Our Story
Wednesday Wines was started by a group of friends who wanted to invest in McMinnville’s downtown shopping area. They also wanted to provide a place for Kathy Campbell to let her light shine as a person gifted in planning events and providing hospitality. That they also ended up with a public place to sit down and enjoy glasses of wine with their friends was a wonderful byproduct. Wednesday Wines is the term the group came up with to describe good value wines that you can afford to drink any day of the week.
Kathy Campbell is the public face of Wednesday Wines. She and her husband, Mike, moved to McMinnville 5 years ago from Northern California. Kathy has a BA in Journalism with an emphasis in advertising from San Diego State. During her career she has held a variety of marketing and public relations positions. Most recently she was Director of Marketing and Public Relations for a hospital system in California. Mike and Kathy also have a daughter, Alexis.
Two of the other owners, Pastor Mark Pederson and his wife, Robin, moved to McMinnville so that Mark could become the pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mark teaches our School of Wednesday Wines 101 class and leads the Theology of Wine group. Robin has her masters in choral conducting from Portland State Univ. and currently teaches choir and strings at McMinnville High School. Mark and Robin have two children. Their daughter Noel now lives in Montana, and works in tv and film production, while their son Paul lives in Eugene. He designs web sites (like this one) and also designs for print.
Irma and Garry Karns are the native Oregonians in the group. Irma is a Personal Lines Account Executive at Western States Insurance Company. Garry has just recently retired after over 30 years of teaching science at Yamhill-Carlton High School. He also serves as the accountant for the shop. Irma and Garry have five beautiful, above average grandchildren (just ask them.)
